- For Sale: 1983 Ferrari 308 GTB Quattrovalvole – Rare RHD UK-Spec Berlinetta With timeless, cohesive styling by the legendary Pininfarina, the Ferrari 308 captured the spirit of Maranello like few others. As Ferrari’s most successful line—with over 12,000 examples built—the 308 holds a revered place in automotive history. However, this particular example is a true rarity: one of only an estimated six Quattrovalvole Berlinettas in Australia. Originally equipped with a 3.0L V8 running four twin-choke Weber carburettors, the 308 later transitioned to fuel injection in the early ’80s in response to global emissions regulations—resulting in some loss of performance. Ferrari’s answer was the introduction of the Quattrovalvole (four-valve) heads. This version not only restored performance but also improved reliability. Lighter, softer valve springs replaced the problematic sodium-filled valves of earlier models, making the QV the most dependable engine in the 308 family. A revised clutch mechanism also enhanced drivability. While Ferrari officially imported only the Targa-bodied 308 GTS QV to Australia, all 74 RHD Berlinettas were delivered to the UK. As such, any Berlinetta QVs here are rare private imports—and this one is a non-catalytic UK-spec model, with greater performance and cleaner lines. This particular example is a low-mileage, unrestored, and exceptionally original car. First delivered to an English dentist, it was enjoyed regularly for the first decade before being stored professionally for 15 years due to illness. Despite minimal mileage during that time, all time-based servicing was completed. In 2007, the vehicle was imported to Australia with just 12,000 miles on the odometer. Upon arrival, classic Ferrari expert John Allan carried out a full suspension rebuild, replacing all rubber bushes and shock absorbers. 16” replica wheels were fitted to accommodate modern tyres (original metric rims included). The car has been fastidiously maintained since, most recently by Carl Jones following John Allan’s retirement. Notable upgrades include: • Full Larini stainless steel exhaust system (lighter and more durable) • LED headlights • 1” steering wheel spacer for improved ergonomics Otherwise, the car remains true to original specification. The clutch was replaced at 20,000 miles, and in 2024, the car underwent a major service including belts, bearings, HVAC system overhaul, and other refinements—with receipts totalling $48,000. Finished in classic Rosso Corsa over a typically English Magnolia interior (bone leather with burgundy carpets), the car presents beautifully and drives even better. It includes: • Original books, tool roll, MOTs, Ferrari car cover • Matching numbers • Odometer now showing just 28,000 miles A rare, beautifully presented and properly sorted collector-grade Ferrari, ideal for discerning enthusiasts seeking a truly special 308 GTB QV. 229k
